Farm and Forest

Foster relationships with agricultural producers to incentivize land use practices that facilitate huntable big game populations. There are workable solutions where hunters and producers mutually benefit.

Competing Land Use

  • Many of those involved in agriculture and forestry also hunt and contribute to conservation efforts

  • Livelihoods and rural economies depend on existing land uses

  • Agriculture and forestry can both create phenomenal hunting opportunities

  • There is demand for people living in rural areas to have more and better managed places to hunt

  • Population objectives based on land use classification percentages

  • Management at sub township level preferred

Improvement and Access

  • Incentivize land management practices that create quality habitat

  • Enhance state specific hunter access partnership programs

  • Areas with low social carrying capacity may be good places to maintain lower deer populations while managing for older age classes

  • Land is expensive and leasing can provide opportunities for hunters and increased cash flow for producers. Daily to multi-year leases exist

  • Improve habitat on public lands
